Words cannot express how grateful I am for considering me for this sponsorship. You came through for me at a time when my dream was almost dying as I was at the verge of withdrawing from school due to financial challenges.

My name is Esther Gondwe. I am a student at DMI St Eugene University in Zambia. I am pursuing a Diploma in Clinical Medical Sciences (General) and I am currently in my 2nd year (awaiting results to go into 3rd year).

I come from Mwenzo, a village in Nakonde District, in Northern Zambia. In my village, access to timely and quality healthcare services is a challenge, just like most other rural areas in Zambia. Patients mostly walk long distances to access the minimal healthcare services available. The significantly small number health workers at the health centers remains a huge challenge. It is from this background that I have a passion to become a Clinical Officer and help provide the necessary healthcare services in my community.

Despite my passion and determination, I have face financial hurdles that have significantly impacted my academic performance. My parents are both peasant farmers in the village and I have not had anyone to help me financially. The coming in of Zikomo team is a life changer. I am very thankful and determined to keep working hard not only to achieve my goals but also to make the entire Zikomo proud.
